End Of An Era... Holden Closes the doors on manufacturing in Australia
Posted by Beau on 21st Oct 2017
A sad day for in Australian Automotive History today as the final Australian Built Holden has rolled off the production line.Since November 1948 Holden has been producing Australian built and designed vehicles for our Australian and later on the worldwide market.
Starting with the 48-215 (FX) Holden right through to the Final Holden VF II SSV Holden has been a household name for Automotive Enthusiast Australia Wide!
Manufacturing vehicles in Australia is now a thing of the past as Holden has now joined Ford & Toyota's departures in the past 12 months also. This brings not only an end to an Era but an end to the greatest rivalry of Aussie built Cars & Australian car enthusiasts of Team Holden or Team Ford! Whether it was comparing the SS to the XR8, Falcon GT to the Monaro GTS or comparing the great Peter Brock to the likes of Allan Moffat & Dick Johnson in their rivalries on the racetrack, Holden & Ford have fuelled Aussie car enthusiasts passion for Automotive & Performance.
The Holden & HSV V8's are one of the most frequently modified vehicles in the country. From simple modifications like the growl of an Exhaust System or lowering the ride height to extensive performance mods like Camshaft Upgrades & Supercharger Kits you can always spot a Holden enthusiast from a mile away.
Although we do still have all the current vehicles on our roads at the moment, today also means the end of looking forward to the next Commodore or HSV built here! We will now need to patiently await the arrival of US based LS powered vehicles in order to keep bringing you the performance upgrades as you update to newer vehicles.
It seems fitting that the final vehicle to roll off the production line is a Red SSV LS3. A nice tribute to all who flew the Red Flag as Aussie V8 Holden enthusiasts and those who spent their careers working on the production lines to bring us some of the best Aussie built production cars that we all love and own!
We say thank you Holden Australia for all the great vehicles & memories.
